Oregon Beer News, 10/11/2018
Welcome to Thursday! I’ve got some Oregon beer news for you on this October 11, which I hope you’ll put to good use! As usual, I’ll update this post periodically throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back occasionally.
Portland’s Saraveza and Ecliptic Brewing are hosting a House That Beer Built Benefit tonight from 6 to 9pm: “Ecliptic Brewing and Saraveza have joined forces to raise money for House That Beer Built! Come grab a pint of Ecliptic, and stay for raffle prizes and a silent auction, with proceeds going to sponsor affordable homeownership opportunities in Habitat’s new Cully Commons community in NE Portland.” House That Beer Built is a partnership between Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East and local craft breweries and beer-related businesses.
Full Sail Brewing (Hood River): The brewery’s montly Brewmaster Dinner series returns this month, kicking off the new season with its Hoptober Brewmaster Dinner today starting at 5pm. “Chef Josh Hedrick and Brewmaster Greg Doss team up to create four courses paired perfectly with our ridiculously tasty beers. $50 per dinner.” The menu looks pretty tasty, including a hopped ice cream for dessert.
N.W.I.P.A. (Portland) is hosting a Ruse Brewing showcase today starting at 6pm: “Time to welcome back Devin and Shaun from Ruse Brewing with a sampling of quality craft beer from their newly opened brewery in Southeast Portland. We’ll have the house fave Translator IPA with the newly crafted Audio Aquatic IPA, double dry hopped with Nelson, Mosaic, El Dorado and Citra. Florissant Animals, a tart Wheat ale conditioned with Syrah juice and Blackberries should reset your palette for the chocolate and vanilla tones of their American stout, The Stages of Dust. Snacks provided.”
Culmination Brewing (Portland) has a fresh hop beer releasing today: “[Today] we release our Fresh Hop Festbier. Speaks In Cursive is a collaboration with @migrationbrewing using Fresh Sterling from @crosbyhops. The guys from Migration will be here and our kitchen has made a special Bratwurst using @carltonfarmsoregon pork poached in the Festbier! 6.1% with flavors of European breads, floral, and spice.”
Breakside Brewery (Portland) announced the release of two hazy IPAs to finish out the year. From the press release: “What Rough Beast, the brewery’s signature hazy IPA, is a New England-style IPA with a clean malt character and balanced hoppy bitterness that is distinctively Northwest. The brand-new Coming Out Party gives a little taste from down under with a New Zealand grown hop and is softer, heavier and more of a ‘full New England’ hazy experience.” Both will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft.
Baerlic Brewing (Portland) has two beer releases today: Novemberfest Marzen Lager and Good Guys Wear Plaid Scottish Ale. You can enjoy these beers starting at 4pm.
Fort George Brewery (Astoria): Did somebody say hazy IPA? Check these out: “Vision Quest and Double Vision Quest. One is an 11% ABV hazy imperial IPA. The other is a double dry-hopped version of that beer. Both are available starting this Saturday, October 13th in the Lovell Taproom. Chef Jeff tested and approved.”
Cascade Lakes Brewing (Redmond) released a pumpkin beer! “Violet asked for a pumpkin beer (first ever for CLBC) and she got it! This lady is an AMAZING, long time employee, and we jumped on her request. Cheers to you Violet! This one is for you!”
Wayfinder Beer (Portland) has tapped its collaboration beer brewed with Chuckanut Brewing: “Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen/Wayfinder Collaboration ON TAP NOW. 10 Degree Pils – High carbonation and heavy amounts of Czech Saaz create a dense, pillowy head on top of golden liquid. 4.0% ABV 35IBU”
Hood River’s pFriem Family Brewers now has a coolship! “As it turns out, the climate of Hood River is remarkedly similar for four months out of the year as Brussels, Belgium. This is fantastic news for us, because we are able to explore the old-world tradition of cooling and spontaneously fermenting with the use of a Coolship! This flat, exposed vessel will hold pFriem Lambic-inspired ale first and we are eager to see how the beauty of this process unfolds.”
