Oregon Beer News, 10/06/2015
Here’s the news in Oregon beer for Tuesday, October 6. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Cascade Brewing (Portland) is celebrating the 5th anniversary of their Barrel House this week, starting today and running through the 10th! From the announcement: “In the fall of 2010, the Cascade Brewing Barrel House opened to the public at 939 SE Belmont St. Known as the “House of Sour,” it featured 18 taps from which to pour its relatively new Northwest sour style ales. From October 6 to October 10, the brewery will offer 10 vintage beers from its early years. Each day at opening, the pub will serve two vintage beers from the cellar (1/4 bbl kegs), which will remain on tap until they run out. Look for the following beers during the course of the event (exact schedule to be finalized): ’08 Sang Noir, ’08 Apricot, ’09 Vlad, ’09 Vine, ’09 Sang Royal, ’09 Kriek, ’09 Bourbonic Plague, ’09 Blackberry, ’09 Sang Rouge & ’09 Noyaux. All vintage products will be served in four-ounce servings for $5.” Beers being tapped today are ’09 Vlad the Imp Aler and ’09 The Vine; I’ll keep up with tappings each day.
McMenamins Fulton Pub (Portland) has a limited-edition beer tasting today, starting at 5pm, and featuring Dueling IPAs: “For a limited time we will have two delicious IPAs to choose from! Orange Goblin IPA will take on the Deck Boss IPA in a head to head challenge. Deck Boss IPA has a very intense and citrusy hop bitterness and flavor throughout. This is achieved by carefully blending three different varieties of NW grown hops in the boiling kettle. The malt background is rich, smooth, and subtly sweet. This is truly a beer for the hop lovers out there.”
Rat Hole Brewing (Bend): They posted today that their move to/opening in Sunriver (south of Bend) is complete: “We have made the destination. Rat Hole Brewing at Sunriver is now open!! Thank you to all who made this possible and now come in and have some fun, great food and of course beer!” I don’t know if that means the entire brewing operation has moved yet—in addition to new brewpub, the space was being remodeled to move the brewery—but they are now serving at least. (I’ll check in to the Bend brewpub to see what the status of that is and will be.)
