Oregon Beer News, 10/12/2015
Happy Columbus Day, or if you prefer, Native American Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Three Creeks Brewing (Sisters) has released its popular Crowdpleaser IPA in bottles this fall, as well as year-round on draft. This is a 7.3%, 75 IBU that’s been drinking well. From the press release: “This new wave IPA uses a simple malt bill to showcase sought after hop varieties like Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, and Amarillo. Head brewer, Zach Beckwith, claims ‘It’s like a majestic citrus forest, sure to be a true crowd pleaser’.” Nice to see more beers coming out the new production facility!
Saraveza (Portland) is celebrating their 7th anniversary this Saturday, October 17 with a big party taking place all day! “We wouldn’t be who we are without our wonderful staff, so we’ve decided to do a staff tap takeover. They’ve put their heads together to pick some of their favorite beers to pour, and we even let them raid our cellar for a special treat or two. There will be many great draft offerings and, of course, Hamm’s!” There will also be midwest beer specials, live music, an industry toast, and of course free cake. Congrats to Saraveza on 7 successful years!
Saraveza isn’t the only one having an anniversary this weekend: Thunder Island Brewing in Cascade Locks is celebrating their 2nd anniversary on Saturday: “We’re turning two, join us on Sat Oct 17 from noon to 10pm to celebrate. Live music, lawn games, food and fun. We’ll have door prizes and LOTS of beer. Let it pour! We’ve squirreled away 14 of our beers — have a taste or enjoy a pint. We’ll be serving beers festival style. 1 token = 1 taste.” Congrats!
And Eugene’s Oakshire Brewing is also celebrating it’s 9th anniversary this Friday the 16th, according to Brewpublic: “Family and friends from Eugene and beyond are invited to help us celebrate at our Public House at 207 Madison Street in Eugene the evening of Friday, October 16, 2015. Join us promptly at 6pm when we’ll toast nine years with samples of our 9th Anniversary Ale. In addition to Anniversary cake being served, Pizza from Oregon Wood Fired Pizza will be available all evening and live local music kicks in at 7pm. Like Oakshire’s 9th Anniversary itself, Oakshire’s 9th Anniversary Ale has a been a long time in the making, exemplifying a passionate dedication to inspired, small batch beers. We started with a crisp Farmhouse Ale, aged it for two years over a mountain of peaches, and matured it for another month with a smaller wild beer and a second dose of peaches.” Don’t miss it!
