Today is Giving Tuesday, which “kicks off the charitable season” encouraging people and companies to find ways to give back. There are a number of breweries today offering up charitable fundraisers so a great way to participate is to visit and drink some beer! Here’s the roundup of those events as well as other Oregon beer news for the day. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. The Bier Stein (Eugene) is Tapping Into Community tonight with BRING Recycling from 5 to 8pm: “Join us for a benefit event for BRING; they take tons (literally) of materials that would otherwise go to the dump, and make them available for the public to reuse as they please– maybe you’re one of those handy people who can look at an old piece of metal and see a garden sculpture! Or maybe you’ve needed a toilet, or a lighting fixture, or some random hinges; maybe you’ve had those things and wondered where to… BRING… them… well, that’s the place. We will have a keg from Falling Sky Brewing that we will donate 100% of the proceeds from– our Tapping Into Community program makes it easy to support our local nonprofits!”

Oregon City Brewing is Raising a Glass to help raise funds for steelhead tonight starting at 5pm: “Please join the Association of Northwest Steelheaders for an extended happy hour while raising funds for a great cause! Meet and greet with other fisherfolks of all knowledge and skill levels, learn how to tie knots and jigs, chat about the state of fisheries in the Pacific Northwest, and make some new fishin’ friends! Oregon City Brewing Company will donate $1 from every OCB beverage purchased (beer, soda, taster trays) to the Northwest Steelheaders. Additionally, if you drink a pint of Royale Brewing Company brew, they will donate 100% of all purchases to us. We’ll have free raffles for free memberships to the Association of Northwest Steelheaders, hats, rods, reels, tackle and more!”

Bailey’s Taproom The Upper Lip is hosting Dark Days 2, their second annual celebration and tribute to imperial stout, which kicks off today and runs through Saturday the 2nd. Five days of rotating events brings different specialty tappings each day. For this Tuesday, they are pouring Barley Brown’s Barrel Aged Don Vanuchi 2016, Culmination Multnomah County Stout, Fort George Matroyshka 2016, Oakshire Hellshire VII, Pelican Father of All Tsunamis, and pFriem Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2016.

Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Bend and Portland pubs, where $1 of every pint sold goes to benefit a local non-profit organization. In Bend this month, they are benefiting J Bar J Youth Services, while in Portland, they are benefiting Kinship House. Make sure to get down to one of the pubs today and enjoy a pint or three!

The Deschutes Portland Pub also has their Sonoma Pride beer on tap, the proceeds from the sales of which go to benefit victims of the Sonoma Valley fires. The beer is Porchata, a milk-style porter with Horchata flavor profiles of cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom.

Eugene’s Ninkasi Brewing has their Pints for a Cause funraiser today, benefiting Daisy CHAIN Mothering: “Come on down to the tasting room @ Ninkasi Brewing Tuesday Nov 28th, enjoy delicious craft brew and raise money for our award winning programs! What could be more fun on #GivingTuesday? Bring the family, tell your friends, we hope to see you there and thanks for your support. Musical Guest Bettreena Jaeger (Betty and the Boy) one of Eugene’s Best Singer/Songwriters will play from 6:30-7:30pm.”

Fort George Brewery (Astoria): Their 2018 Magnanimous Mug Award event takes place this evening starting at 4:30pm: “Each year in early November, benevolent members of the community are nominated for this coveted award. The rules are simple: nominees choose a charity, raise funds for that charity, then join Fort George for the Magnanimous Mug Award on Tuesday, November 28th. More donations are gathered at the event, tallies are taken, awards are handed out, and all of the funds raised go directly to those charities that night. This year, Fort George will generously add donations to the charities of the top three fundraisers – matching up to $10,000 for first place, up to $5,000 for second place, and up to $1000 for third. And of course, the most ambitious fundraiser of them all will hoist the Magnanimous Mug for 2018. This custom laser-etched mug entitles the holder to all of the benefits of a Fort George Mug Club member for one year, and earns you a hearty round of applause from the entire community. The Magnanimous Mug will be awarded on Benefit Night, Tuesday, November 28th at 8pm. Join all of the participants, and the representatives of their charities, starting at 4:30pm in the upstairs pizzeria. Benefit Night is held the last Tuesday of every month, raising pints and funds for local nonprofits.” Last year they raised more than $64,000 so this is a big night!

Block 15 Brewery (Corvallis) has their Dine Out fundraiser today, benefiting Linn-Benton Salmon Watch: “Please join us for a delicious, locally sourced meal at our downtown pub on Tuesday, November 28th – 10% of food sales will be donated to the Linn-Benton Salmon Watch. Ecliptic Brewing (Portland) is participating in Giving Tuesday on Mississippi Avenue, benefiting Boise-Eliot-Humboldt Elementary School, all day long today: “Over 70 Historic Mississippi Ave businesses are coming together to raise funds, each donating 10% of sales from the entire day to support the school’s Playworks Program, an organization aimed at improving children’s physical and emotional learning through a more thoughtful approach to recess. Please come shop, eat, drink, visit your favorite businesses and discover new ones, all for a great cause! Last year, we raised more than $12,000 for Boise-Eliot-Humboldt Elementary School, and this year, we want to top that amount!”

Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm tonight is featuring Sang Rouge 2015: “A preview of one of our most exciting 2018 releases. Sang Rouge is a blend of sour red ales aged in select red wine barrels and fresh oak puncheons for up to 30 months. Highlighting the depth and complexity of our base red ale without the influence of additional fruits or spices, Sang Rouge serves as the foundation of our “Sang” series. This rare project features notes of roasted malts, dried currants, aged red wine and toasted oak.”

Full Sail Brewing (Hood River) announced today that their new canning line is up and running: “Full Sail is canning ridiculously tasty craft beer like crazy with the recent installation of their top-of-the-line Krones Craftmate can filler. Filling at the rate of 250 cans per minute, the Full Sail brewery’s canning line can handle its own Session and Full Sail brands, as well as take on contract brewing from other breweries looking to outsource their canning to keep up with this market trend.”
