Oregon Beer News, 11/16/2015
What a Monday—woke up to the news that Ballast Point Brewing had been acquired by Constellation Brands for an unbelievable $1 billion… but, this is the Oregon beer news, so more on Ballast Point later. Here’s the news for Monday the 16th of November; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news as I find it, so check back often. If you have news to share, please let me know and I can get that updated as well.
In case you missed the news on Friday, Bend Brewing Company is being sold, and expect to be finalized at the beginning of 2016. From the press release: “Initially, Packy and Leslie [Deenihan] will be focused on continuing to serve the loyal patrons of Bend Brewing Company. Going forward, they believe there is an opportunity to expand production & distribution of Bend Brewing Co.’s beer as well as having a stronger marketing and social media presence. Packy’s Dad, Ed, will also have a role at BBC, primarily focused on promoting the BBC brand and beer outside of Bend.”
Oregon City Brewing (Oregon City): They are celebrating their first birthday this Saturday and as such they are holding the first OCBrewfest: “We’re turning one! Thanks so much for putting up with us and all the support. We owe you big, so here’s what’s in store: BEER: We will have 10 of our own beers on tap and 2+ beers from each Oregon City brewery: Feckin, CoinToss, Portland Cider, Shattered Oak, Bent Shovel, & Drinking Horse. Now is your chance to try all Oregon City breweries under one roof! Golden Tickets get a 1st anniversary .3L Kolsch glass and 5 beer tickets. Almost VIP get 1st anniversary .3L Kolsch glass and 2 beer tickets. One ticket = one fill of the OCBrewfest glass.” It takes place this Saturday the 21st from 4 to 10pm.
Belmont Station (Portland): Tonight from 5 to 7pm they are hosting the bottle release for the new 54°40′ Brewing Company: “Join us as we welcome Bolt Minister & Charlie Hutchins for the release of their first ever bottles! They’ll be on hand to chat and answer questions, and we’ll have bottles of their Broken Record IPA and Kascadia Kolsch available for sale.”
Bailey’s Taproom (Portland): They are holding an “Urban Family Brewers Night” at their Upper Lip starting at 4pm which looks interesting: “Join us at The Upper Lip as we welcome Seattle’s Urban Family Brewing to the Portland market and pour through six of their most inventive ales. Fans of French and Belgian Farmhouse ales won’t want to miss out on this opportunity to experience UFB for the first time. A limited number of to-go bottles will also be available for sale the day of the event.”
Terminal Gravity Brewing (Enterprise): They have a new beer on tap that might be of interest to hopheads: “BIG BURN Imperial IPA now tapped at the Pub and across Oregon soon. 8.5% | 80 IBU | Mosaic, Simcoe, Citra Hops!”
