Oregon Beer News, 12/14/2018
Happy Friday (TGIF)! Today (Friday) is Roast Chestnuts Day, seasonally appropriate but I don’t know that I’ve seen too many street vendors roasting chestnuts around; perhaps find a nice nut brown ale to substitute?
At any rate here is the news for this weekend of the 14th, which I’ll be updating periodically throughout the day on Friday, so check back in occasionally for the latest weekend happenings. And as always, feel free to contact me with any news and information that I can publish as well.

General News
Surprising news from Deschutes Brewery today, as the Bend Bulletin reports that the brewery laid off 10 percent of its workforce: “Deschutes Brewery has laid off 10 percent of its workforce, saying business hasn’t met expectations over the past two years. The precise number of workers affected was not known. The cuts come after the 30-year old Bend brewery pulled back on plans to build a brewing facility in Roanoke, Virginia. ‘We have made the hard decision to reduce staff across sales, marketing and operations by 10 percent to match our sales volume,’ said Michael LaLonde, Deschutes Brewery CEO and president. ‘This decision was extremely difficult to make, but necessary for the brewery given current market conditions and trends.'”

Sure to keep you toasty warm throughout the winter, remember to enjoy responsibly!”
