Oregon Beer News, 12/19/2017
Here’s the news in Oregon beer for Tuesday, December 19. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
McMenamins Corvallis has their Quaff in Corvallis beer tasting from 4 to 6pm today, featuring Kris de Caliente Pepper Infused Winter Warmer, from the nearby Monroe brewery: “Our seasonal Kris Kringle has been gifted an addition of jalapeno peppers to bring a different kind of spice to your season! The bold malty complexity and intense hop flavor and aroma balances the heat of the peppers. We hope that this beer will leave you with the warm glow of the holidays.”
Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene) will be hosting a tap takeover for Pints for a Cause at Bottles bottleshop in Portland today starting at 3pm: “Come grab a cold one to help a little one! Join us at Bottles for our Ninkasi Tap Takeover benefitting Toys for Tots Tuesday, December 19th. Tis’ the Season for great beer and giving! Details: Bottles will be collecting unwrapped toy donations, and $1 of every Ninkasi pint will go to Toys for Tots! Bottles will have 4 Ninkasi Beers on tap: Sasquatch, Oak Oat, and 2 secret seasonal brews (come to find out!). There will be live music from 7pm-9pm and food specials will be served all night!”
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Berry Christmas: “Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at 6pm is a blend of imperial spiced red and wheat ales aged in bourbon and wine barrels for up to 22 months with dried elderberries, cocoa nibs and cinnamon. Intense flavors of dried blueberries and black currants are met with subtle tones of baking chocolate, cinnamon spice and a hint of bourbon.”
Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Tuesdays are Community Pints days at the Deschutes pubs, where $1 from every pint sold goes to benefit a local non-profit organization. Each month they select a new beneficiary to raise money for. At the Portland Pub, they are benefiting Solve through December; unfortunately I have not seen who the beneificiary is for the Bend Pub and the Tasting Room this month are supporting The Giving Plate, but get down there anyway and help out with a few pints.
Coin Toss Brewing (Oregon City) is hosting a beer and Christmas cookie pairing today, starting at 3pm: “’tis the season for delicious cookies and equally wonderful beers. Guess what? They go great together! We’ll be pairing 4 different cookies with 4 Coin Toss beers. Sure to be a fun evening and a great excuse to head to our taproom & escape all the pre-holiday stress!”
Oregon City Brewing has their Charity Pint Night tonight benefiting Milwaukie Co-Op Preschool starting at 5pm: “Our next Charity Pint Night is with Milwaukie Preschool! Come down on Tuesday, Dec. 19th from 5 pm to close, and $1 of every OCB pint, soda, taster tray, crowler and growler fill goes to help a great local co-op. Minors are allowed until 9 pm in the taproom, and until close on the patio. Cheers, Pioneers!”
Sedition Brewing (The Dalles): Their monthly Liquid Education Beer School takes place today at 5:30pm: “Want to learn more about the beverage we know and love, craft beer? Join us Tuesday, December 19th at 5:30pm in the pub at Sedition Brewing Company. Classes focus on various ingredients and aspects of craft beer making. The classes will last for approximately 30 – 45 minutes with time for tasting and mingling to follow. All participants must be 21 and up, as you will be sampling beer throughout class.”
Three Mugs Brewing (Hillsboro) is kicking off a winter charity drive today: “Three Mugs Brewing Company will be sponsoring a new non-profit that provides supplies for the less fortunate. This will be the first drive and since it’s winter, we will be asking for donations of emergency/all weather blankets, scarves, beanies, fleece blankets, gloves, socks, and anything to keep warm. We will have a small tree and people can also grab an ornament that has a particular item on it. We will have a bin and people can place the items in it. You do not need an ornament to donate an item. The ornaments are to give you an idea of what items will be needed. All items will be donated to local soup kitchens in the Portland area and handed out to those in need. At any time before December 25th, if you donate, you will receive $1 off of your beers for that day/night. We will have a special kick-off event for it on December 19th. $1 from any beer purchased that day will go to the non-profit’s charity drive. We will also have free snacks and cute doggos/puppers to pet. Thank you, friends!”
Wild Ride Brewing (Redmond): Their 12 Days of Christmas deals continue today: “You all enjoying these Wild Days? We sure are, and the fun continues Tuesday in the Tap Room! All Wild Ride logo t-shirts, any color any size, are on sale for ONLY $8 today!”
Vertigo Brewing (Hillsboro) has a special beer tapping today: “[Today] we tap the Super Dude. This beer started life as our Mark It Zero stout. Some of the beer became the Dude that we released in the fall. The rest was left to continue to age in Big Bottom Distilling rye barrels. We infused the beer with spices making it the perfect beer for the holidays. Only 2 kegs are going to be tapped, so don’t wait too long.”
Deschutes Brewery’s Bend Tasting Room is hosting their 12 Days of Christmas vintage tastings, where they will be opening vintage bottles for samples as well as selling bottles. Today’s featured beer is The Dissident 2015.
