Oregon Beer News, 12/03/2013
Here’s the Oregon beer news for Tuesday, December 3rd. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Oakshire Brewing (Eugene) has some specialty beers hitting the taps tonight; first they have two barrel aged Single Batch beers being released at their taphouse: “Heavenly Oraz Burton and Brandywine. They both tap at 6pm and are EXTREMELY limited. Come on down and try the barrel-aged awesomeness!” And then over at 16 Tons Taphouse, their 2013 Barleywine is being released: “Also on tap will be 7, Pinky Tuscadero, and Existential Pumpkin! Come hangout with us and sample Barleywine. 5-7:00 at the Taphouse(13th street) location.” Lots of big beer goodness in Eugene tonight courtesy of Oakshire!
Portland Brewing (Portland): Tonight is their annual Ugly Sweater Party taking place at the brewery from 5 to 9pm, which also helps out a good cause. “It’s that time of the year again – time to bring out your ugliest, most bedazzled holiday sweater and wear it without an ounce of shame! Join us for our annual Ugly Sweater Party including: Ugly sweater competition and prizes; Raffles; Live Music and Christmas Carolers; Photo Booth; Food and Beer Specials; Appearance by Drunk Santa; Donate a used coat and get a free six pack! All coats will be donated to Portland Rescue Mission”
Mazama Brewing (Corvallis) is doing their first official bottling today! Hopefully this means we’ll start seeing their beers distributed on shelves soon as well as on taps.
Lompoc Brewing (Portland): Every year Lompoc brews up a whole bunch of winter seasonal beers—at least 8!—and today is the big release day for all of them! “Join us at Lompoc Tavern, Oaks Bottom, Hedge House & Fifth Quadrant to try Blitzen, Brewdolph, Cherry Christmas, C-sons Greetings, Holiday Cheer, Jolly Bock, Old Tavern Rat & Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Tavern Rat! No big party, they’re on draft all day long. Happy Holidays!” And the New School has tasting notes for all of them, too.
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Tonight’s Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring “Live” Shrieking Violet Blueberry. “This NW style sour ale is no wallflower. It started as a strong spiced quad that was barrel aged 21 months, then aged another six months on blueberries. Huge herbal notes of dense blueberries in the nose give way to hints of oak and leather. Rich, earthy notes of dark fruit on the palate yield to a rich, velvety finish that dries out to a base note of blueberry skins. 11% ABV | $8 Glass | $3 Taster”
