Oregon Beer News, 12/07/2016
Today is Pearl Harbor Day, a day of remembrance for the surprise attack that catapulted the U.S. into World War II. Raise a toast in remembrance. And here’s the news for this Wednesday; as usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day with the latest news, so check back often for updates. If you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that updated as well.
Culmination Brewing (Portland) has a new limited bottle release today: Funky Punch. “Funky Punch is a cured key lime cranberry Gose blended with a Flanders style red ale with cherries. The cherries, cranberries and mild salinity, in this beer, make this offering sour, juicy and refreshing. On the nose you get ripe berries and citrus aroma. On the tongue you feel light carbonation which lends a “punch” like body to this beer’s bright acidity. This beer is of limited quantity. *Limit of 3 bottles per person.* Funky Punch, 6%abv, 750ml, $14.00″

The Green Dragon (Portland): Tonight’s Green Dragon Brew Crew release is featuring “Old Russputin,” a big 9.5% abv Russian Imperial Stout. “As the Green Dragon Pub & Bistro transitions into Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery, the Green Dragon Brew Crew wanted to express our gratitude to longtime manager and friend, Russ Menegat, by releasing one of our true gems from the cellar – Old Russputin. Brewed in 2013 by the Green Dragon Brew Crew with guest brewer and Green Dragon Pub & Bistro Manager, Russ Menegat, this massive offering to our loyal followers is truly extraordinary. A blend of four Russian Imperial Stouts were combined in a fresh Rogue Dead Guy Whiskey barrel and aged for four weeks. The beer was then cellared for over two years, allowing the rich flavors to meld into a cohesive whole. Very smooth, creamy and loaded with flavors; coffee, chocolate, oak, whiskey, bitter hops, and roast are all well represented in the beer – a fitting send-off for “The Dragon”.” Taps at 5pm.
Bend’s Craft Kitchen & Brewery is doing a tasting tonight at Sons of Beer Growler Station in Prineville. They will have samples and swag available, starting at 5pm.
