Oregon Beer News, 12/20/2016
Here is the news in Oregon beer for this Tuesday, December 20. As usual, I’ll be periodically updating this post throughout the day, so check back often for the latest news. And if you have news to share, please contact me and I can get that posted as well.
Portland’s Natian Brewing is holding a “bonus” tap takeover at Pulehu Pizza tonight from 6:30 to 9:30pm: “You have been good this year and you deserve a delicous pint or two or three of handcrafted beer by Natian Brewery! Join us for an impromptu tap takeover on Tuesday December 20th from 6:30-9:30pm Tasty food and beer! Kick off your holiday the right way!”
Rogue Ales (Newport) has a new beer coming out: Hazelutely Choctabulous, a blend/fusion of their Hazelnut Brown Nectar and Chocolate Stout. From the release: “‘For over a decade, our hardest-core fans and loyal pub patrons have been drinking this blend, which they say tastes like a nutty chocolate candy bar,’ said Rogue President Brett Joyce. ‘We’re thrilled to share this secret menu item with the world.’ Dark and decadent, with a rich nutty flavor up front followed by a chocolate truffle finish, Hazelutely Choctabulous will be available in 22-ounce serigraphed bottles and on draft starting in January 2017.”
Cascade Brewing (Portland): Their Tap It Tuesday at the Barrel House at 6pm is featuring Sugar Plum Brandy: “eaturing our sour quad base beer aged in a brandy barrel for more than two years with brandy-soaked prunes. This limited holiday offering showcases rich flavors of brandy, sugar plums, dried dark fruits and sweet caramel malts, certain to warm you up when the weather outside is frightful!”
Deschutes Brewery (Bend): Every Tuesday at the Pub is Community Pints day, where $1 of every pint sold is donated to a designated non-profit for the month. Throughout the month of December, the non-profit is the Deschutes County Search and Rescue Foundation, which does amazing work helping stranded folks in the mountains and more. Head down to enjoy a pint or three and help out!
Bend’s Worthy Brewing has a new barrel-aged beer out that you’ll want to check out: 2014 barrel-aged Dark Muse Imperial Stout. “In 2014, Worthy filled a dozen Wild Turkey wooden barrels with our deep, rich and silky Dark Muse Russian Imperial Stout. Over two years later, after the benevolent forces of time, bourbon, and oak had a chance to work their magic, there’s only one word to describe this dark creation: Wow. Naturally, this is a very small batch. We hand-dipped each 22 ounce bottle in gold wax. May not add taste, but it gives off that holiday pinache. Of the total 60 cases, Worthy is offering 30 cases to retailers in Oregon, 15 in Washington, and another 15 here at the pub. The blend is 60-40, barrel aged to freshly brewed Dark Muse. This rare, gold, hand-dipped wax dipped lubricant sells for $16 a bottle. It’s aged, and it will continue to age well. Ideal as a holiday gift. Perfect for your beer cellar.”
Chetco Brewing (Brookings): They have a beer release party today from 2 to 9pm for their Nauti Lady ale: “The list is out and Nauti is at the top! Come try our new Nauti Lady – Imperial Smoked Brown, aged in an oak barrel. We’ll have snacks available and you can help our local food bank with our food bank fundraiser (some Grinch stole their van and a bunch of much needed resources). Go nauti this year and help a great cause while you do!”
