Oregon Craft Beer Month
Welcome to the first day of Oregon Craft Beer Month; as someone said on Twitter, we have so much beer in Oregon we need more than just a week! It’s our month-long celebration of Oregon’s craft beer, culminating in the Oregon Brewers Festival from the 22nd through the 25th.
You can check out the giant list of related events to find something going on near you; and there is (of course) a Twitter hashtag that you can use if you want to talk about them: #ocbm.
Me, I’m drinking some homebrew right now—Oregon-brewed, naturally.
What are you all drinking?
Oh Oregon…
When it comes to beer I can’t think of many other places in the states that come close even. Especially when it comes down to the actual culture of the place. Despite their incredibly stupid and oh so irritating laws on filling up your own gas which leave me fighting with the gas station attendant, their beer and food culture is truly awesome.
I lived in Seattle for two years and being so close had more than a few chances to pay them a visit down there. It’s one of the few places that actually feels like everyone is seriously passionate about their beer and food. Passionate in the way they make it, consume it and even market it.
For me that = great respect. But that also = incredible brews. When a master brewer cares so much about what he’s brewing and serving that he’ll or she will fore go so much else in his/her life, you know it’s going to be good, and you know that you’ll end up giving him/her big props!
You also have to love their almost aggressive stance on their food and beer passions. Almost like a….”Did you just order a bud light? We don’t like your kind around here…” 😉
