Press Release: Big Glen Hay Falconer Foundation Announcement Kicks Off ‘Beer Birthday’ Party
They sure don’t look it – OK, maybe they will after surviving Oregon Craft Beer Month – but three local craft beer promoters are turning 159 years young this weekend. And in typical style, they are throwing a big beer bash and fundraiser for the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation.
Horse Brass Publican Don Younger, Point Blank Distributing owner Scott Willis and Beer O’Clock radio show host, Lisa Morrison (aka The Beer Goddess), all share a birthday on Saturday, July 11. And they are celebrating their collective 159th birthday on Sunday, July 12 with a party starting at 5 p.m. at the Horse Brass Pub. (You will have to ply them with beers to find out how old each one of them is separately.)
All three of the birthday celebrators are intimately involved with the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation, a non-profit organization that creates scholarships to send Northwest brewers to brewing school so they can hone their craft. So, Don, Scott and Lisa decided to make their birthday celebration a fundraiser for the Falconer foundation.
They also are upping the ante with some really big news about the Falconer Foundation itself. This news will not be released until shortly after the birthday party begins at the Horse Brass on Sunday, July 12, so you must attend the celebration to hear the announcement, which promises to be important information for pro and home brewers alike.
In addition to the big news announcement, the following special beers will be available for purchase at the party:
- Full Sail Saison
- Double Mountain Pils
- Hopworks Urban Brewery Cascadian Dark Ale (2nd place People’s Choice Winner at the NAOBF)
- Laurelwood Green Elephant
- Terminal Gravity Triple
- Walking Man Sasquatch Legacy (09 – Belgian IPA)
- Hair of the Dog – TBA
- and at least one Mystery Beer
Plus – there’s more! Don “the birthday boy” Younger is unable to attend his own party because London was calling and he’s out of the country. So, at his bidding, we’ve cooked up some great ways to get back at him. There will be a chance to get your picture taken with “Cardboard Don” for a buck a photo. And there will be a “Pin the Tail on the Don-key” game, where blindfolded players pay a dollar to try to finally give Don, infamous for not having a rear-end, a proper posterior. (Remember, it’s all for the Falconer Foundation.)
There also will be a raffle with a Grand Prize of a Traeger pellet grill with pellets — valued at over $450 — plus a number of other great prizes.
