Pumpkin Beer Week: Links & events
A roundup of links and events I’ve been coming across, both pumpkin-themed and (at least one) Halloween-themed:
- Cambridge Brewing Company is featuring their 3rd annual Great Pumpkin Festival coming up this Saturday, the 30th. Sounds like it’s the east coast version of Elysian’s Pumpkin Beer Festival (and Elysian is one of the guest breweries at CBC’s event), and CBC will be offering up 8 of their own pumpkin beers (among which are a “Barrel-aged Wild Pumpkin Porter,” Pumpkin Barleywine, and a Berliner Weisse-style with pumpkin!) and some 18+ guest pumpkin beers. It runs from 4pm til 1am and costs $10. (“Costumes Recommended.”)
- The Michigan Beer Blog posted a recipe this week recipe for Ichabod Pumpkin Soup, using New Holland‘s Ichabod pumpkin ale. Check out their photos—love the carved pumpkin bowl!
- Halloween night, Portland is host to the Night of the Living Ales 28th Street Pub Crawl—“celebrating the great beer bars that line a short area from Glisan to Ankeny along 28th.” Four stops, costume contests at each one, and $5 for a wristband getting you access to beer specials—along with some special beers and guided by the Beer Goddess herself, Lisa Morrison, how could you go wrong?
- Lew (“pumpkin beers mostly suck”) posted about a pumpkin beer dinner at the Hawthorne Cafe in Philadelphia. For $50, you’ll get a four-course, gourmet pumpkin dinner paired with four different pumpkin beers (all east coast brewreies).
