Received: Beers from Wild Heaven, Partake, Iron Hill
Three different beer packages arrived last week, from the eastern half of the country (or rather, countries).
Valley of Gold Belgian Pale Ale – Wild Heaven Beer
This specialty brew from Georgia’s Wild Heaven was created as an homage to “one of the greatest beers ever brewed” — that being Orval. This Belgian pale is 6.5% ABV and fermented with Belgian ale yeast and Brettanomyces, and marketing copy says:
This Belgian Pale boasts a cloud-like head that rests on a straw-gold body. In the old-world tradition, it is dry-hopped with whole cone Crystal hops for a particularly vibrant and expressive hop profile. Each bottle and keg undergo a secondary fermentation with Brettanomyces brux, which adds layers of complexity and a farmhouse quality that makes this beer intricate and amazing.
Cherry Gose non-alcoholic beer – Partake Brewing
Cherry Gose is the summer seasonal non-alcoholic beer from Canada’s Partake; I detailed the release here. The company sent me two cans to sample. It’s brewed with coriander, sea salt, and “natural flavors” (cherry juice?) and like the other Partake NA beers, contains less than 0.5% alcohol by volume.
Orange Creamsicle Milkshake IPA – Iron Hill Brewery
These were a surprise, a four-pack of Iron Hill’s latest limited-edition beer in the form of a milkshake IPA. Orange Creamsicle is brewed with lactose and blood orange puree, it’s Iron Hill’s take on the summertime ice cream treat and should be popular—last year’s debut sold out in three weeks.
