Received: Big winter beers from Harpoon Brewery
Two big beers from Harpoon Brewery out of Massachusetts arrived at the house yesterday: MacGuffin, a wee heavy, and Catamount Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter. These are new seasonals to Harpoon this year and about them the brewery tells me:
MacGuffin: A member of Harpoon’s 100 Barrel Series, this beer balances right on the edge of darkness. Brewed with fresh thyme and honey, this is one enigma of an ale. Coming in at 11.8% ABV and 32 IBUs, MacGuffin is the perfect holiday drink to relax with.
Catamount Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter: Available exclusively on Harpoon Brewery’s Vermont and Massachusetts’s brewery locations, this brew features a unique combination of eight different malts and is barrel-aged for 11 months in bourbon barrels. With notes of vanilla, a robust, smooth character and roast-sweet aroma – this 10.2% ABV limited offering is a perfect fireside companion!
I don’t believe I’ve drank a Harpoon beer before; the beers are not available in Oregon. So these will be a first that I’m looking forward to.
