Received: Deschutes Brewery Symphonic Chronic Double Dank IPA
Last week I received cans of a new beer from Deschutes Brewery—Symphonic Chronic Double Dank IPA. It’s an amped up version of the brewery’s Symphonic Chronic, first brewed several years ago, and weighs in at 9% alcohol by volume with 60 IBUs. Interestingly it’s only available in 19.2-ounce cans.
The website description of the beer says:
A melodious mashup mixing bright tropical fruit aromas and notes of resinous pine. Like a well conducted symphony, this is a perfectly harmonious Double IPA featuring the dankness of a West Coast IPA along with the juicy characteristics of a Hazy.
The marketing email had a few more details:
Symphonic Chronic is an Imperial IPA that combines West Coast kettle hopping with East Coast dry hopping for profound notes of resinous pine and bright tropical flavors from loads of Citra, Chinook, CTZ, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Idaho 7 hops. At 9% ABV and 60 IBUs, this double IPA is amazingly smooth and well-balanced.
The brewery also released a promo video with strong Clerks/Jay and Silent Bob overtones, which is pretty amusing:
