The fresh hop beers from Double Mountain Brewery have returned, and in conjunction with the releases, the brewery sent me a bottle of this year’s Killer Green Fresh Hop IPA. The other standards are back as well—Killer Red Fresh Hop IRA, and Fresh Hop Iowa Bar Fight—and this year, there’s going to be a fresh hop edition of Velvet Wallpaper IPA too.

The Return of the Killers has come!

It’s that time of year again- fresh hop season, and we couldn’t be more excited to roll out our 2024 fresh hop beer collection! The hop harvest is in full swing, and we’ve got some killer brews ready to go. Killer Red and Killer Green are both on tap at the Taprooms, and today we’re kegging Fresh Hop Iowa Bar Fight! You can grab a bottle of Killer Red right now, while Killer Green and Fresh Hop Iowa Bar Fight will be bottled tomorrow and hitting the Taprooms this Friday, September 20th. This is year two for Fresh Hop Iowa Bar Fight IPA, a crowd-pleasing collaboration with Solera Brewery that you don’t want to miss.

We’re also thrilled to introduce something new this year: Fresh Velvet! This fresh hop version of our Velvet Wallpaper IPA is a draft-only treat, brewed with Krush™ hops (formerly known as HBC 586) from our friends at Perrault Farms. These hops bring bold flavors of stone fruit, citrus, and berries, perfect for fruity IPAs. Fresh Velvet is brewing now and will hit the taps in early October- get ready for something seriously delicious.

As always, we’re proud to partner with local hop growers. This year’s hops come from both Perrault Farms in the Yakima Valley and Crosby Hops in the Willamette Valley. We’re all about keeping things fresh, so once those hops are picked, we send out our reefer truck to bring them straight to the brewery, where we start brewing within hours. It’s all about capturing that peak freshness for your pint!

With harvest season in full swing, now’s the perfect time to dive into some of our freshest brews. Whether you’re a hophead or just love trying new flavors, we’ve got something for you. These small-batch beers are limited-time only, so make sure to swing by soon and grab a pint (or a bottle) while they last.
