Received: Non-alcoholic wines Jøyus Rosé and NON5 sparkling wine alternative
I’ve been receiving a number of non-alcoholic beer alternatives lately, and even some non-beer ones—such as these two: Jøyus Rosé and NON5 Lemon Marmalade & Hibiscus, non-alcoholic wine alternatives that sound interesting.
Jøyus is a non-alcoholic brand of wine made in the Pacific Northwest with a lineup of several wines, both sparkling and non. The Rosé has won “multiple Double Gold and Best in Class medals in the world’s most prestigious wine competitions” and even better, it only has 75 calories per bottle, according to the website.
The Jøyus NA wines are all alcohol-removed products, with less than 0.5% ABV, indicating that they were likely fully fermented before having the alcohol processed out of them.
NON is based in Australia and creates wine alternative products that are an “upscale non-alcoholic beverage alternative that lands somewhere between the experience of wine and the exhilaration of a fine dining dish.” I received the NON5 Lemon Marmalade & Hibiscus, a sparkling beverage described as having tart citrus, a floral body, and a menthol aroma and finish.
It’s not completely clear to me if this is a wine with the alcohol removed, or (based on the process page on the website) if this is an entirely non-alcoholic beverage crafted to emulate the wine experience. I think the latter.
