Sally Can Wait Dark Export Lager from Double Mountain Brewery
Double Mountain Brewery released its first seasonal of 2022 last month, Sally Can Wait, a Dark Export Lager, and as part of this year’s seasonal lineup, each beer will have a QR code to scan that will take you to a Spotify playlist compiled by the brewers, specifically for each beer.
As for the beer itself, here’s a bit of a description from the press release:
The lager brings refreshment. Light, dry, and crisp, this lager goes through verses of marmalade and lemongrass, hitting the chorus with heavy power chords of biscuit, country load, and nostalgia.
The brewery sent me a bottle, though spoiler alert, I haven’t listened to the playlist; I just drank the beer, which is really good. It’s 5.9% ABV with 23 IBUs. My notes:
Appearance: Clear amber-copper color with orange highlights, it’s nice and bright with an ample off-white head.
Smell: Lusciously bready, lightly spicy like a not-too-dark rye bread with a hint of cinnamon. Really clean fermentation profile and just a touch of foresty hops.
Taste: Richly malty with flavors of scones, toasted oats, spicy wheat berries. Nice balancing hop bitterness but low hop flavor, giving some forest floor and tobacco notes. Nutty and dry. It’s a good flavor that keeps you sipping for more.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, perhaps a bit on the light side, with a clean and crisp finish that’s nicely dry.
Overall: Excellent and one I’d drink a lot more of.
