Save the date: Central Oregon Resilience IPA Brewfest, Jan. 5, 2019
On Saturday, January 5, Central Oregon breweries are banding together to put on the Central Oregon Resilience IPA Brewfest. This event, as you might imagine, will be a fundraiser for the Camp Fire Relief Fund set up by Sierra Nevada Brewing in response to the deadly Camp Fire that tore through Butte County in Northern California last month. 100% of the brewfest proceeds will go to Camp Fire relief.
The official press release will be out early next week, but since we’re talking about a brewfest being taking place three weeks from today — being put together on short notice — I’ve got initial details.
So far, 19 Central Oregon breweries have signed on to be present, all pouring their own versions of Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, the beer that Sierra Nevada brewed and asked other breweries to brew as well. So far more than 1,400 breweries around the country have done so, including the majority of Central Oregon’s. Only Resilience IPA will be pouring at this event.
It gets better: Ken Grossman, founder and CEO of Sierra Nevada, along with members of his team will be coming to Bend to attend this brewfest, and they will be bringing kegs of their own Resilience IPA to pour!
The fest will take place from 2 to 8pm at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend’s Old Mill District, and the plan is to be a family-friendly event. There is no info out yet on pricing.
Volunteers
Obviously a big goal of this brewfest is to donate 100% of the proceeds towards Camp Fire relief, and to help maximize that effort, they are going to need volunteers in a big way. Ali Burke, Associate Marketing Manager from Deschutes Brewery, reached out to me with details:
I’m looking for volunteers to help with keg load on Friday afternoon, and setup Saturday morning as well as actual pouring execution 1:30-8:30pm on Saturday 1/5.
All in all, they will need at least 60 volunteers to make this happen.
