The Suttle Lodge 2nd annual Winter Beer Festival goes virtual
The Suttle Lodge is a rustic mountain-style resort and campground located on the shore of Suttle Lake in the Deschutes National Forest, just west of Central Oregon. Last year it hosted its first Winter Beer Festival, one of the few pre-pandemic events I was able to attend, featuring regional breweries pouring beers based out of the cabins in a large group campsite-style setting. You can read my roundup here.
Recently the Lodge announced its second annual Winter Beer Fest—and this time around, it’s going online for a virtual event to raise money for the Independent Restaurant Alliance of Oregon.
The online event takes place February 20 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a host of online experiences and some 30 breweries participating. Tickets (available here) cost $40 for the full package which gets you a mix six-pack of beer (a mystery mix), custom mug, and full access to the online event, and $25 for access to the online event without the beer or mug.
Here’s the press release with details:
Tickets are now on sale for The Suttle Lodge’s 2nd Annual Winter Beer Festival! Bringing together local Oregon breweries, this year’s VIRTUAL event keeps the spirit of outdoor Bavarian winter markets alive while supporting the Independent Restaurant Alliance of Oregon, with sponsorship from our friends at MiiR.
THE GOAL: Raise $50,000 to support Oregon restaurant relief, by selling at least 1,000 tickets to our virtual event.
This year we’ll have over 30 participating breweries from the Pacific Northwest, including Ninkasi, Boss Rambler, pFriem, Bale Breaker, Barley Browns, Bauman’s Cider, Bend Cider, Boneyard, Breakside, Crux, Double Mountain, Buoy, Ecliptic, Ex Novo, Everybody’s, Fort George, Goodlife, Heater Allen, Migration, Modern Times, Wayfinder, Wild Ride, Von Ebert, Wolves & People and Riverbend Brewing to name a few.
EVENT DATES: The virtual event will take place on Saturday February 20th, from 5-8pm, tickets available here. Tickets include assorted 6-packs of beer, commemorative MiiR mugs, with optional raffle and bingo add ons available for pick up from Spirit of 77 in Portland, pFriem in Hood River & Boss Rambler in Bend.
Together, but apart, join us for experiences including:
- Cooking classes and Q&A’s with local chefs – Jason French (Ned Ludd), Diane Lam (Sunshine Noodles), Thuy Pham (Mama Dút), Jarrott Moonitz (Suttle Lodge)
- Live musical performances from Loch Lomond, Tré Burt, and Jeremie Albino
- Drag Bingo with Peachy Springs
- Panel discussions with breweries focusing on both their beer and the beer industry
- A raffle with wild and crazy prizes (including something called a Beer-B-Q)
THE BACKSTORY: On January 31, 2020 we kicked off the first annual Winter Beer Festival by gathering together over 30 Pacific Northwest breweries & selling to capacity for all three days of the event, with proceeds benefiting Oregon Adaptive Sports. This year, we recognize the hardship that has been beset upon our fellow hospitality workers and want to find a way to support those who have been hardest hit in this pandemic – all ticket sales will benefit the Independent Restaurant Alliance Oregon, with funds going directly towards their efforts to support the neglected independent restaurants and their staff.
Special thanks to Filson, Rambler Sparkling Water, and Ninkasi for their additional support.
