Umpqua Brew Fest
A relatively new Oregon beer festival popped up on my radar recently: the Umpqua Brew Fest, based in Roseburg, Oregon. It’s only in its second year and is taking place on October 21st and 22nd (Friday and Saturday) at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. It is being hosted by Umpqua Watersheds and you’ve got to love the tagline, an obvious tribute (or ironic nod) to Olympia: “It’s all about the water.”
Celebrate clean water, craft beer, and sustainable living in the hundred valleys of the Umpqua at the only southern Oregon Octoberfest that’s actually in October. With dozens of craft beers from Pacific Northwest and beyond breweries, the two day festival also features live music, beer-friendly food favorites, and a home brew competition.
No word on the beers/breweries available yet, but their Facebook page does indicate that Draper Brewing (out of nearby Tenmile, Oregon) will be in attendance. And they’re also in need of volunteers.
The Fest takes place from 3 to 10pm on Friday, and noon to 10pm on Saturday. Looks like kids and pets are not allowed. The cost is $10 for a glass and tickets (the number of initial tickets isn’t specified), with additional tickets $1 each (standard).
And, the Brew Fest is featuring a BJCP-sanctioned homebrew competition, sponsored by the Umpqua Valley Brewers Guild. The entry deadline is October 8th, and there is an $8 fee per entry (with half of that being donated to the Umpqua Watershed).
